Working at HOPE

We have a small but dedicated team of staff here at Hope for Children, and occasionally we have opportunities available for people to join the HOPE team.

Student Fundraising Assistant

Salary: £9,600 pro rata
Location: Hope for Children UK, Hemel Hempstead
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Type: 44 – 52 Weeks (Including 25 days’ holiday pro rata)
Reports To: Student Fundraising Officer (SFO)

The Student Fundraising Assistant will support and contribute to Hope for Children’s student programme: Your Uni, Their Lives (YUTL). They will work alongside the Fundraising Team to nurture and develop working relationships with current and prospective university partners, students and supporters. Most importantly, this position will work closely with our student supporters to ensure their experience with Hope for Children is a life-changing & positive one by offering exceptional fundraising support and information about the transformational work we do.

This role is designed as a placement for students taking a year in industry as part of their university course. Students from all courses are welcome to apply, as are non-student applicants.

All posts within HOPE will, in due course, be subject to a standard disclosure check, and some posts involve more detailed checks. HOPE will obtain the disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), which is an executive agency of the Home Office. The DBS will check the background of job applicants to make sure that they do not have a history that would make them unsuitable for certain posts. HOPE works within the Codes of Practice for DBS.


We are fully aware of the skill, intelligence and potential of students and want to give you opportunities to show what you can do. This could be designing a new fundraising campaign from start to finish, or composing detailed reports of international development trends and applying your research to real life. Fundamentally, we will give students unprecedented responsibilities and opportunities to rapidly further their skills, passion, and knowledge of the sector.

We will be having Summer internships in Fundraising, Marketing and Graphic Design. Internships will be a minimum of 3 days per week for 1 – 3 months.
